IKV Heart of Honor
Meeting Minutes
November 4, 2018
On November 4th, 2018, personnel of the IKV Heart of Honor met at the ships headquarters to discuss business. Present at the meeting were Jim, Jamie, Diane, Jen, and Cadets Chrissy, Hanna, and Isaiah. Absent were Doyle and Benjamin.
General Business:
- The minutes of the October meeting were approved.
- Treasurers Report:
- Jim reported on behalf of Benjamin that there are $11.00 currently in the ship's Treasury.
- Ship's Logo:
- Jamie reported that there was progress on designing the ships logo. She presented a photo of a preliminary design that need a few changes before it is approved. The ship's name is to be moved to appear above the image and the Bat'leth will be moved up closer to the bottom of the design.
- Banners, Business Cards, and Brochures:
- We continue to wait for the final design of the ship's logo before we make banners, business cards, and brochures to hand out at future conventions and events. Jamie will continue to work with Jared to get the final design done quickly so we can proceed with this.
- Costume Progress:
- There has been little progress on costuming at this time. Jim explained that costuming is a slow progress and that we need to get basic costumes done first. Other accouterments for outfits can be added as time goes on. Costuming is an ongoing project that takes time and patience.
- Recruiting:
- Eric is on board. Jim just needs to find a time that they can get together so it can be explained to him what he is getting involved with and what to expect from being on the ship.
- Doyle still needs to sign up on KAG.org to be officially added to the roster.
- Chrissy said that she has talked with her friend, Rachel, who is interested in becoming a cadet. Jim said that it is important that the parents understand what we are about and that they understand and agree to allow Rachel to participate.
- Grand Comic Con (March 22-24, 2019)
- We have secured booth space that includes a table and two chairs. Jen will provide a table covering.
- We need items to put on the table at the Con to attract those that want to know what we are about. Jim has several items that will be used. He also will be ordering a paper and ink copy of Dayton Ward's Klingon Travel Guide for display and for anyone who might want to thumb through it as they pass by. He will purchase this book on his own, not using ship's funds.
- Jamie suggested a photo album for display on the table also. Everyone thought this would be a great idea. We will determine how to make this happen in the near future.
- Future Projects:
- Thanksgiving:
- Jamie is waiting to hear back from the person in charge of this.
- Cadets will gather on Saturday, November 10th to make table centerpieces.
- Christmas:
- We are signed up to help the Salvation Army make-up food boxes and organize a toy giveaway on December 15th from 10:00 AM to Noon.
- Jim is considering volunteering to be a bell-ringer in Klingon uniform.
- January:
- The cadets will meet sometime in January on a date to be determined to make Valentine cards for residents of nursing homes in the area. Further details will be worked out in future meetings.
New Business:
- Anime Nebraskon Report:
- Jim attended the Anime Nebraskon convention in Omaha on November 3rd in uniform and aided the IKV Raptor's Heart with their Klingon Jeopardy Panel. The panel was well attended and fun for both the Klingons present and for the guests.
- Jim, Sharon, and Steve visited on numerous subjects to discuss future cooperation between the two ships.
- Jim offered his resignation as Chief Communications Officer and asked to be removed from the Raptor's Heart roster. Sharon said that while Jim will no longer carry out duties as the Coms Officer, he will remain on the ship as Liason Officer to coordinate activities between the two ships. Jim accepted this position.
- It was decided that the two ships will share expenses for amenities such as booths at future conventions and will share duties for panels or other presentations.
- Sharon is going to make an effort to come to Grand Comic Con in March.
- Sharon will help us with ideas on making uniform items such as pins and sewing ideas when asked.
- Jim suggested that members of the Heart of Honor may want to attend a Raptor's Heart meeting in Omaha in the near future.
- Operation Salvation Army Report:
- When it was all done, we had sorted and shelved around 954 pounds of food items that were delivered by Boy Scouts during this operation.
- An AER was filed with KAG.org and has been posted. Also there is a copy of the AER on the blog. (Click on the link to see the AER)
- After we finished at the Salvation Army, everyone gathered at Freddy's for "A Good Day to Dine"
- We also held a ship's gaming night.
- Costuming Day:
- It was proposed that there be a day for costuming set at regular intervals where everyone get together and work on uniforms. Everyone thinks this is a good idea. Plans for this will be discussed at a future meeting
For The Good of the Ship
- Movie Day:
- The World Theater will be showing Apollo 13 on November 9th through the 11th. The ship's personnel that are able will be gathering there for the 2:00PM showing on November 11th.
