General Business:
  • Meeting called to order at 12:32
  • Members Present: Jim. Diane, Jamie, Doyle, Ben, Jen, and Chrissy
  • Minutes of the last meeting were not available.
  • Benjamin reported that there is $53 in the treasury.
Old Business:
  • Costumes are progressing and are at various stages of completion.
  • Recruiting:
    • Doyle will be signed up for KAG when the opportunity next presents itself. (September meeting)
    • Mari Beck will be joining the ship.
  • O-Con Discussion:
    • It was discussed and decided that we will be getting our own booth at next year's O-Con. It will be adjacent (hopefully) to the Raptor's Heart booth and shoulld maximize Klingon exposure.
    • The expenditure of $75 for this year's table was approved without discussion. 
New Business:
  • Upcoming Project Ideas
    • There were several options for new projects presented and we are planning t participate in some community activities. Nothing specific yet, but everyone was urged to watch for things we can be involved in. Jamie will follow up on ideas and make contact as time permits.
    • Jim told the group that he will be developing a new panel based on the book, The Klingon Art of War by Keith DeCandido. It will consist of a PowerPoint presentation accompanied by lecture.
    • We are looking for a better way to do Klingon Jeopardy, possibly a computer-based method. Ben volunteered to look into this.
For the Good of the Ship:
  • The next ship's meeting will be on September 8, 2019 at 12:30 PM.
  • There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 1:03.

April 7, 2019

General Business:
  • The meeting was called to order at 1:08 PM
  • Present at the meeting were: Jim, Jamie, Diane, Erik, Doyle, Benjamin, Jen, and Chrissy.
  • Not Present: Isaiah, Hannah, Rob
  • Guests: Alisha Hellner and Jason Jason Kenniston.
  • Minutes of the February meeting were read and approved.
  • Benjamin reported that there is $105 in the ships treasury.
Old Business:
  • Grand Comic Con
    • Our invasion of Grand Comic Con was a success.
    • Our table looked great and we talked to a lot of people.
    • It was suggested that we be more careful that the entire crew not gather in front of the table blocking it from the public's view.
    • Klingon Jeopardy was unfortunately cancelled because there was no place to hold it at the con. We are hoping that this will change as the con grows and the con-runner becomes more experienced.
    • Jamie suggested we get two tables next year so we can spread out more.
    • Jim reminded everyone that O-Con will be different, there will be more activity, panels to attend, game rooms, and more events.
  • Photo Board:
    • Jim asked what was needed to complete the photo board. Jamie said that an 11x11 print of the ship's logo, a listing of our activities, and a listing of the ship's personnel and positions be added to the board.
    • Jered will be contacted for a high-resolution copy of the logo for the photo.
  • Costuming:
    • Benjamin reported that he has ordered he intends to switch from Ferengi to Klingon. He has ordered head ridges as well as Bajoran nose ridges for Jamie.
    • Erik reported that he has been gathering materials for his uniform.
    • There was some extensive discussion of planning a costuming day or days. It was determined that two possible dates include Sunday, April 28th and Saturday, May 4th to meet and work on costume projects.
    • Jim suggested that if you have something to work on, place a notification on the ship's private Facebook group to arrange a costuming date
  • Recruiting:
    • It was reported that Rob Paup of Grand Island has joined the ship. He has registered with KAG and is on the ship's roster there as a crewman. He has been added to the Facebook group.  He comes to us via contact at Grand Comic Con where he was costumed as a vary convincing Kingpin from the Spider-Man Universe. Welcome Rob! Qapla!
    • We will be Doyle up with KAG when there is an opportunity to sit down with a computer.
    • Jason Kenniston also has stepped forward to join the ship. He was given all of the information and will be official soon. Qapla! Jason will serve as the ship's chef!
  • Children's Mental Health Celebration:
    • The Heart of Honor will be participating with this project to be held on May 16th from 4:30-7:30 PM. The place is yet to be determined. Jamie thinks that it will be at the fairgrounds or the Armory.
    • It was agreed that we will we will either make a Tribble Toss game or a Tribble Paint-and-Take for the kids.
    • If the Tribble Toss is what we will do, we will make tribbles and the other parts during the costuming day.
  • Red and Wild Celebration in Lexington.
    • It was agreed that we will be making up a Movie Night basket to donate for auction.
    • We will include two movie theater tickets, two sodas, two packages of microwave popcorn, a DVD copy of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, and a ship's brochure and business card.
    • The DVD was ordered. Ben and Jen are getting the rest of the items for the basket.
New Business:
  • Water for Runners:
    • The annual marathon that runs past Jim's house will be soon. Jamie was asked to call KPR to find out date and time for this.
    • Jim will set up a table and hand water to passing runners. He will be in costume for this.
  • New Projects:
    • A suggestion was made that the Cadets might read to kids at the Public Libraary.
    • Further discussion was tabled.
For the Good of the Ship:
  • Jamie suggested that with the ship growing, we may need to think about a little bigger place to hold the monthly meetings. Several locations were brought up.
  • Everyone was encouraged to look into a new location.
  • Diane reported that she has reserved motel accommodations for those attending O-Con in June.
  • With Chrissy involved in 4H Archery, Jim requested that we move the meeting time to 12:30. Everyone was in agreement.
  • Next Meeting will be Sunday, May 5th, 2019 at 12:30 PM.
  • Meeting adjourned at 1:48 PM.

Heart of Honor January 2019 Meeting Minutes

January 6, 2019

General Business:
  • The meeting was called to order at 12:10 CST.
  • All ship's crew were in attendance.
  • Minutes for the December meeting were read and approved.
  • The treasurer reported that the ship's treasury is up to $27.

Old Business
  • Ship's Logo Progress:
    • Jim reported that he and Jamie met with Jared, the owner/operator of Revolution Vinyl Graphics. They worked together for about an hour and Jared produced a Logo that looked like what we wanted. Jim and Jamie approved the final design and shared it with the ship's personnel on social media.
    • Jared indicated that he will provide services for printing on shirts, banners as well as copies of the logo for use on other items.
    • The design was unanimously approved by the crew to be our official logo.
    •  We await an invoice for Jared's services.
  • Banners, Brochures, & Business Cards:
    • Diane and Jim worked on the basic banner design and presented a paper pattern for the banners. The shape for the banner was unanimously approved.
    • Jim suggested that something be added to the bottom of the banner to add some color, perhaps some braided fringe. Ben suggested that a 'bevel' of a different color would look better and be less 'frilly.'
    • Further Banner Discussion was tabled until a future date.
    • Jim reported that he is currently working on a tri-fold brochure to be handed out at conventions. It should be ready to look at before the February meeting.
  • Costume Progress:
    • Numerous ideas were discussed for costuming.
    • Diane offered that she is available for sewing and other help.
  • Recriting:
    • Erik is on board! He is signed up for KAG
    • Crew members welcomed him to the ship! Qapla!
  • Future Projects:
    • Reminders were issued for convention dates in the near future
      • Grand Comic Con - Grand Island - March 22-24
      • O-Con - Council Bluffs - June 28-30
        • Ticket prices have gone up to $40
    • The cadets on the ship will meet immediately following the meeting to work on Valentines for nursing home residents.
    • Jamie will call to get numbers of residents for this project.
  • Costuming Day:
    • Quartermaster Diane asked that everyone begin letting her know what she needs for costumes.
    • Erik reported that he is working on his costume and is looking for appropriate boots and material for his honor sash.
    • Jim reminded Erik that the rule for costumes is "if it looks Klingon, it is Klingon."
    • Everyone was urged to search for and keep an eye out for appropriate material.
New Business:
  • Photo Album
    • Jim reported that there was no progress as of yet on the proposed photo album for display at conventions.
    • Jen suggested that we can use a digital photo frame for display until a photo album is ready. Jim thought this is a good idea, but has concerns about security for electronic items that are on display.
    • Most of the ship expressed that it would be a good idea for both hard copy photo album and a digital frame at our booth.
  • Ship's Email Address
    • Jim reported opening an email account on gmail for the ship.
    • The email address is ikvhoh@gmail.com
      • The password was given to everyone
    • There is also now a ship's Google Drive available for file sharing. The email and password will give everyone access to this as well as the email.
    • Jim requested everyone's email address for correspondence via the gmail account.
For The Good Of The Ship:
  • Jamie asked about what the expectations for the crew's activities were at cons concerning how a booth is to be operated.
    • More formal guidelines will be discussed at a later date.
  • Erik reported that he has access to a 3D printers and a laser engraver and has offered his services to make items upon request.
    • Jim appointed Erik as the ship's Assistant Quartermaster.
    • Jim recommended that Erik recruit his wife who also has artistic talent.
  • Jamie reported that we may have another project in May or June with the Children's Mental Health Celebration. She will report further on this at a later date.
  • The Next Meeting was set for February 3rd, 2019. Time TBD.
  • There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:58 PM.

Heart of Honor December Meeting Minutes

December 16, 2018 - 6:00 PM

General Business
  • The meeting was called to order at 6:05 PM
  • In attendance were all of the crew except for Doyle
  • Minutes of the November meeting were read and approved
  • Ben reported that there is $15.00 in the ship's treasury.
Old Business
  • Ship's Logo Progress
    • Jamie reported that she is working on setting up a time with Jarod to finalize the ship's logo to be used on banners, business cards, and brochures. This will hopefully be done over the holiday break.
  • Costume Progress
    • Ben and Jen both reported that they have made progress on their costumes.
  • Recruiting Progress
    • Jim reported that he made contact with a prospective new member. This was done via email. The prospect returned an email to Jim, but did not make a commitment. Jim will follow up after the holidays.
    • Jim will also be meeting very soon with another prospective member.
  • Grand Comic Con (March 22-24)
    • Jim learned that Raptor's Heart commander has reserved a room in Grand Island for this event.
  • Community Thanksgiving Dinner Help
    • Members of the ship volunteered to help with the Kearney Area Concerned Citizens annual free Thanksgiving Dinner. We mostly prepared yams for the oven. Jim did sustain injuries (burned finger tips from peeling boiling hot yams) but we did have a good time.
    • Jim polled the group about the experience and everyone showed interest in volunteering again next year.
  • Operation: Salvation Army II
    • The ship was scheduled to volunteer at the Salvation Army once again on Saturday, December 15th. Jamie was contacted by the S.A. director who informed her that they had some changes in deliveries and that the event was being moved to another day. Unfortunately, we were not able to make the new date.
  • Valentines for Shut-Ins
    • The plan is that the cadets will be gathering to make Valentine cards for nursing home residents at North Ridge. Jamie will contact them to find out how many residents there are.
    • December 6th and January 30th are two days that the cadets will be working on these cards. More dates will be added as needed.
  • Costuming Day
    • Along with the cadet project, we are planning a costuming day on January 6th.
New Business:
  • O-Con (June 28-30)
    • Jim has passes for himself and Chrissy for the event.
    • Jim will be ordering passes for Jamie's family before the discount deadline at the end of the month.
  • Photo Album for Display at Cons, etc.
    • It was decided that we will purchase a regular photo album and begin stocking it with photos taken at various events we attend. We feel that it will be a good recruiting tool and that it will generate interest in the group.
    • Jamie also suggested that we make a display board for the table. This was also approved.
    • Jim will order prints for both the items
    • A date to be determined will be chosen to work on these projects.
For The Good Of The Ship:
  • Jim mentioned that the "pass the hat" idea for raising ship's funds is not working. Ben and Jamie both suggested that we try to use an internet service to get funds from those that don't carry cash. Jim mentioned that this would do nothing more than add a step to the process, and that it might also begin to cost money. Jamie said that she would try to remember to send out reminders.
  • Jamie said that she will be looking for service projects for this spring. Possibly in April.
  • The next ship's meeting has been scheduled to be held on January 6th at noon. this will also serve as a project day for costuming, and other activities.
  • There being no further business to be discussed, the meeting adjourned at 6:54 PM.

Heart of Honor November Meeting Minutes

November 4, 2018

On November 4th, 2018, personnel of the IKV Heart of Honor met at the ships headquarters to discuss business.  Present at the meeting were Jim, Jamie, Diane, Jen, and Cadets Chrissy, Hanna, and Isaiah. Absent were Doyle and Benjamin.

General Business:
  • The minutes of the October meeting were approved.
  • Treasurers Report:
    • Jim reported on behalf of Benjamin that there are $11.00 currently in the ship's Treasury.
New Logo before changes
Old Business:
  • Ship's Logo:
    • Jamie reported that there was progress on designing the ships logo. She presented a photo of a preliminary design that need a few changes before it is approved. The ship's name is to be moved to appear above the image and the Bat'leth will be moved up closer to the bottom of the design.
  • Banners, Business Cards, and Brochures:
    • We continue to wait for the final design of the ship's logo before we make banners, business cards, and brochures to hand out at future conventions and events. Jamie will continue to work with Jared to get the final design done quickly so we can proceed with this.
  • Costume Progress:
    • There has been little progress on costuming at this time. Jim explained that costuming is a slow progress and that we need to get basic costumes done first. Other accouterments for outfits can be added as time goes on. Costuming is an ongoing project that takes time and patience.
  • Recruiting:
    • Eric is on board. Jim just needs to find a time that they can get together so it can be explained to him what he is getting involved with and what to expect from being on the ship.
    • Doyle still needs to sign up on KAG.org to be officially added to the roster.
    • Chrissy said that she has talked with her friend, Rachel, who is interested in becoming a cadet. Jim said that it is important that the parents understand what we are about and that they understand and agree to allow Rachel to participate.
  • Grand Comic Con (March 22-24, 2019)
    • We have secured booth space that includes a table and two chairs. Jen will provide a table covering.
    • We need items to put on the table at the Con to attract those that want to know what we are about. Jim has several items that will be used. He also will be ordering a paper and ink copy of Dayton Ward's Klingon Travel Guide for display and for anyone who might want to thumb through it as they pass by. He will purchase this book on his own, not using ship's funds.
    • Jamie suggested a photo album for display on the table also. Everyone thought this would be a great idea. We will determine how to make this happen in the near future.
  • Future Projects:
    • Thanksgiving:
      • Jamie is waiting to hear back from the person in charge of this.
      • Cadets will gather on Saturday, November 10th to make table centerpieces.
    • Christmas:
      • We are signed up to help the Salvation Army make-up food boxes and organize a toy giveaway on December 15th from 10:00 AM to Noon.
      • Jim is considering volunteering to be a bell-ringer in Klingon uniform.
    • January:
      • The cadets will meet sometime in January on a date to be determined to make Valentine cards for residents of nursing homes in the area. Further details will be worked out in future meetings.
New Business:
  • Anime Nebraskon Report:
    • Jim attended the Anime Nebraskon convention in Omaha on November 3rd in uniform and aided the IKV Raptor's Heart with their Klingon Jeopardy Panel. The panel was well attended and fun for both the Klingons present and for the guests.
    • Jim, Sharon, and Steve visited on numerous subjects to discuss future cooperation between the two ships.
      • Jim offered his resignation as Chief Communications Officer and asked to be removed from the Raptor's Heart roster. Sharon said that while Jim will no longer carry out duties as the Coms Officer, he will remain on the ship as Liason Officer to coordinate activities between the two ships. Jim accepted this position.
      • It was decided that the two ships will share expenses for amenities such as booths at future conventions and will share duties for panels or other presentations.
      • Sharon is going to make an effort to come to Grand Comic Con in March.
      • Sharon will help us with ideas on making uniform items such as pins and sewing ideas when asked.
      • Jim suggested that members of the Heart of Honor may want to attend a Raptor's Heart meeting in Omaha in the near future.
  • Operation Salvation Army Report:
    • When it was all done, we had sorted and shelved around 954 pounds of food items that were delivered by Boy Scouts during this operation.
    • An AER was filed with KAG.org and has been posted. Also there is a copy of the AER on the blog. (Click on the link to see the AER)
    • After we finished at the Salvation Army, everyone gathered at Freddy's for "A Good Day to Dine"
    • We also held a ship's gaming night.
  • Costuming Day:
    • It was proposed that there be a day for costuming set at regular intervals where everyone get together and work on uniforms. Everyone thinks this is a good idea. Plans for this will be discussed at a future meeting
For The Good of the Ship
  • Movie Day:
    • The World Theater will be showing Apollo 13 on November 9th through the 11th. The ship's personnel that are able will be gathering there for the 2:00PM showing on November 11th.
    • Following the film, all will gather at Culver's for A Good Day To Dine.
  • O Comic Con
    • O Comic Con is now called O Con and will take place at the Mid-America Event Center in Council Bluffs on June 28th-30th, 2019
    • Admission for pre-registration will open in early December at $30 for a three-day pass. Those planning to attend should take advantage of this discount.
    • Future plans for attending this event will be discussed at a later date.
  • The next meeting of the Heaart of Honor was set for December 2nd. The time for that meeting will be determined as the date draws closer.

The IKV Heart of Honor held their monthly meeting at Jim's house on October 7th, 2018 at 4:00 PM. Present at the meeting were Jim, Diane, Jamie, Ben, Jen, Chrissy, and prospective member Doyle.

General Business:
  • Minutes of the September 1st Meeting were approved.
  • The Ship's Treasurer, Ben reported that we have no funds in the treasury as of yet.
  • Embroidered KAG patches have arrived!
    • These patches will be awarded to crew members that have a completed costume and are to be worn on the left sleeve of halfway between the shoulder and elbow.
Old Business:
  • Update on the Ship's Logo
    • A logo was designed by Jamie's contact, Jared of Revolution Vinyl Graphics. It was determined to be unsatisfactory and is to be re-designed. 
    • Jamie also reported that we can secure shirts for the ship at a very good price. 
    • This discussion was tabled until a new design is presented.
  • Costume Progress
    • There was no progress on crew costumes this past month.
    • Jim reminded everyone that they would receive promotions to 2nd Lt. when costumes are completed.
  • Recruiting
    • There was some discussion on recruiting more crew for the ship. There are some prospects and follow-ups are in progress.
  • KAG Shirts
    • Everyone on the crew have secured their KAG shirts.
    • Shirts are to be worn for the Operation: Jubilee Center project.
  • Operation Jubilee Center
    • Operation: Jubilee Center is scheduled for October 27th, 9:00-Noon
    • Jamie will check if we need to bring tools for yard work or anything else.
    • Following the Operation, it was decided to do A Good Day To Done meeting at a local restaurant.
    • It was also decided to do a Game Night that evening.
    • Jim will post a Doodle (scheduling app) for times and activities.
    • IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Operation is cancelled as Diane has learned that a local church has taken our day for their own day of service. Jamie will look into another date after the first of the year.
  • Grand Comic Con
    • Grand Comic Con in Grand Island, Nebraska will be March 22nd-24th in the Aurora Exhibit Building on the Nebraska State Fair Grounds.
    • Jim has secured a 10'x10' booth for the event.
    • It is not known whether a table and table cover is also included with the booth. Jim will look into those details and report next month.
  • Future Projects
    • Thanksgiving Community Meals:
      • Jamie is trying to contact someone in charge with this but has had no success so far. She will continue to look into how we can be involved with this project.
    • Christmas Project
      • Jamie is looking into details about getting involved with delivering or wrapping gifts for kids in needy families.
    • Retirement Home Valentines
      • We are planning to have the cadets create Valentine's Day cards/gifts for persons in retirement homes.
  • Banners and Business Cards
    • Jim looked into VistaPrint for custom banners. While their prices are reasonable, what they offered for their product doesn't fit what we want.
    • Jared of Revolution Vinyl Graphics and Jamie are working on the design of the logo.
    • Jim contacted Sharon of the Raptor's Heart and she directed him to her ship's website to see what is available for a brochure to hand out at events.
  • Anime Nebraskon
    • Jim is going for one day, November 3rd, in support of the Raptor's Heart.
    • If anyone is planning to attend, costume is recommended.
New Business
  • Nebraska Klingon Facebook Page
  • Idea to Bolster the Ship's Treasury
    • Jamie suggested that we "pass the hat" at our meetings to get some funds building up for future projects and ship's expenses.
    • Jim said that funds collected will require approval of the entire crew before they are committed.
  • O Comic Con
    • Nothing has been advertised on this convention as of yet. Not even sure it will be held next year at this point. Jim will monitor Facebook and other outlets for future information.
    • If it is held, Jim is planning to share a space with the Raptors Heart if Sharon is willing.
    • Getting membership early will provide a discount for those attending.
For the Good of the Ship
  • Help with Costumes
    • Quartermaster Diane asked the crew to meet with her to discuss what they are wanting and to bring pictures.
  • Banners
    • It was decided that canvas will work best for Banners
    • The size for the banners will be 24"x36". They will be slightly tapered and cut to points at the bottom.
    • Three banners are needed: a ship's banner, a KAG banner, and a Cold Terror Fleet banner.
    • Jen can bring a backdrop and frame if needed.
  • Next Meeting Date
    • The Next Meeting of the Heart of Honor will be held on November 4th, 2018.
    • The time is to be determined.

September 1, 2018

The crew of the IKV Heart of Honor held a ships meeting on September 1, 2018. All members of the ship were present.

General Business:
  • Ben was appointed to be the Ship's Parliamentarian for the purpose of keeping discussion items on topic.
  • The minutes from the August, 2018 meeting were read and approved as read.
  • Treasurer's Report: At this time, there are no funds in the ship's treasury
  • Syndicate Games Invasion Report: We declared that the operation was victorious as we claimed the new local gaming establishment for the Empire. Everyone indicated that they had a good time.
  • Other:
    • All members of the ship have signed up with KAG.org.
    • All members have been assigned positions on the ship.
    • Everyone has been promoted and have received Battle Notches for the Syndicate Games Invasion.
    • A request for Battle Notches has been sent for Jim and Jamie.
Old Business:
  • Ship's Logo: Jamie presented an idea for the ship's logo. She envisions a black background with a heart lit from the back as though a star were shining behind it. Inside the heart will be a B'Rel class Bird of Prey. There will also be the ship's name and a bat'leth included.
  • Progress on Costumes: Jamie knows what she is going to do for herself and her cadet kids. She is also working on one for a prospective new member. Benjamin and Jen reported that they are progressing slowly. All were reminded that they will be granted officer status once their costumes are completed.
  • Recruiting: Jamie reported that she has visited with some and will continue in her efforts. Ben said he will talk to his friends that might be interested. Jim reported that he has received a soft commitment from a gaming friend and will talk with him further in the near future.
  • KAG Shirts: Jim reported that KAG logo t-shirts are available through the KAG.org website, They are priced at $24.96 plus shipping. He said that these shirts will be worn at activities where costumes would be impractical or inappropriate such as volunteering for work details, etc. Everyone agreed to order their own shirts. Jim has ordered his, Diane's, and Chrissy's.
New Business:
  • Jubilee Center Volunteering: Jamie reported that we are planning to volunteer to work at the Jubilee Center, a charitable organization that provides food and clothing to the needy. The plan is to go there on October 27th from 9:00 to Noon and work on whatever is needed. Jamie said she will follow up to be sure the plans will proceed.
  • Future Projects Ideas: The following ideas were briefly discussed for future ship projects...
    • Helping with set-up and prep for the Knights of Columbus Thanksgiving Dinner.
    • Delivering Toys to the needy on Christmas.
    • Cadets making Valentines for nursing homes.
    • Handing water to passing marathon runners at the events in Kearney.
    • Cadets painting Kindness Rocks to be placed around the community.
  • Grand Comic Con: The Grand Comic Con in Grand Island, Nebraska is scheduled to take place on March 22nd- 24th at the State Fairgrounds. Discussion was held with pans to get a booth to be manned on Saturday and Sunday of the event. It is also hoped that we hold at least one panel, Klingon Jeopardy. There is also the possibility that the commander of the IKV Raptors Heart will join us for this if she is able to arrange her schedule to fit.
  • Business Cards, Banners, and Brochures: There was discussion that the ship will need Business Cards, Banners, and Brochures for recruiting purposes and to identify who we are. Three banners would be needed including a KAG, a Cold Terror Fleet, and a ship's banner for display at cons and other events that we spearhead. Jim volunteered to contact Sharon of the Raptor's Heart to get a sample of the brochure that her ship uses for handouts at Omaha events. Jim further mentioned that he asked about using logos from the KAG website and received the answer that anyone in good standing with KAG is allowed to use the logos royalty free. Business cards would have the ship's logo and contact information for the ship, and for KAG.org.
  • KAG Embroidered Patches: Jim explained that our very diverse crew needs something to tie us all together. He further told everyone that he is planning to order KAG embroidered patches to be placed on all uniforms. They will be awarded to each crew member once their costume is completed and are to be sewn on the left sleeve.
  • Facebook Group: Jim explained that he will be starting a new Facebook Group to be called Nebraska Klingons. It will be the official public group for the Heart of Honor and we will be posting news of our activities. This will be separate from our private Facebook group that is for ship's members only. This will be done as soon as Jim has time to do it.
  • Anime Nebraskon: Anime Nebraskon will be held fro November 2nd - 4th at the Ramada in Omaha. Jim is planning to go in support of our sister ship, the IKV Raptor's Heart and will serve on panels in costume if needed. Other members of the ship were invited to also attend. One of the guests at this event is Vic Mignogna of Star Trek Continues fame.

The motley crew of the IKV Heart of Honor!

The first regular meeting of the IKV Heart of Honor was held on the above date at Jim's house in the late afternoon. All members of the ship were present.

New Business

  • Species, Alien Names, and Costumes
    • Everyone is required to choose a species and character name. This was discussed and most of the crew had already taken care of this task. The following was reported:
      • Jim is a Klingon named Ja'Jim
      • Jamie is a Bajoran named Arroh Mina
      • Diane is a Klingon named B'Yontol
      • Jen is an El'Aurian named Lana
      • Benjamin is a Ferengi named Dinar
      • Chrissy is a Klingon with her name yet to be determined.
      • Hannah is a Trill named Madzih Dax
      • Isaiah is a Vulcan named T'Kol
    • Assignments were given to the crew members. Those are:
      • Ja'Jim: Commander
      • Arroh: Executive Officer
      • B'Yontol: Quartermaster
      • Lana: Ship's Recorder
      • Dinar: Ship's Treasurer
        • Duties to also include photography when available.
      • Chrissy: Cadet Science Officer
      • Hannah: Cadet Commander
      • T'Kol: Cadet Security Officer
    • It was discussed that everyone should watch as much Star Trek as possible to learn about their species as well as do some research on Memory Alpha. It was also asked that everyone research Klingon culture since we are members of a Klingon organization. This will be an ongoing task.
    • There was some discussion of costumes. It was determined that each individual will be responsible for choosing what their costume will be, but we will tie all members of the ship together with a Klingon style honor sash.
  • Sign-up with KAG.org
    • All members of the ship have signed up with KAG.
    • Ordering KAG shirts was discussed. Several ideas were presented:
      • Do we send in one order or order individually?
      • A shirt design was chosen.
      • The design of a shirt for the ship itself was also discussed. Possibilities for designers and consideration of copyright infringement was also brought up.
      • Further discussion was tabled for the time being.
  • Projects and Activities
    • Invade Syndicate Games - August 18th @1:30pm
      • Syndicate Games will be opening their doors on August 15th. The Ship, as many as can, will invade the game shop on the above date. We will play games and take some photos to be posted in an After Event Report on the KAG website.
      • Jim will be in costume for this event.
      • A Doodle will be posted to the Ship's Facebook group to determine who will be able to attend.
      • Jim will contact the store to be sire that this is acceptable to the owners.
    • Several suggestions were put forth for future activities:
      • Volunteer to help at the Jubilee Center.
      • Set-up or serve at the community Thanksgiving Dinner.
      • Help with delivering toys to families in need at Christmas.
      • Take on an Adopt a Mile assignment.
      • Jamie will be in charge of finding activities.
  • Recruiting
    • Recruiting was discussed and several names were suggested as possible members. 
  • Ship's Facebook Page and Blog
    • Our Ship's private Facebook page has been posted and is accessible by all adult crew members.
      • No one except Ship's personnel are to be added to this group. It is for Ship's business only.
      • A public page will be added later.
      • The address for this page is classified and will only be given to persons that are on the Heart of Honor.
    • We have a blog that will be used to post meeting agendas, meeting minutes and After Event Reports.

  • Old Business
    • None

  • For the Good of the Ship
    • A ships logo was discussed at some length. It was determined that the logo will be a black heart with a Klingon B'Rel class Bird of Prey on front of the heart as well as the Ship's name. 
      • Care is to be taken not to infringe on any copyrights that may exist. This logo will be placed on shirts for the crew.
      • It was suggested that 24 Hour Tee's be chosen for the design and making of the shirts.
      • Further discussion was tabled for a later date.
    • The date for the next meeting was set for September 2nd, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
      • Future meetings were determined to take place on the 1st Sunday of every month.
      • Alternate dates will be determined if necessary.
