  • Costume Progress
    • Ben and Jen both reported that they have made progress on their costumes.
  • Recruiting Progress

    • Jim will also be meeting very soon with another prospective member.
  • Grand Comic Con (March 22-24)
    • Jim learned that Raptor's Heart commander has reserved a room in Grand Island for this event.
  • Community Thanksgiving Dinner Help
    • Members of the ship volunteered to help with the Kearney Area Concerned Citizens annual free Thanksgiving Dinner. We mostly prepared yams for the oven. Jim did sustain injuries (burned finger tips from peeling boiling hot yams) but we did have a good time.
    • Jim polled the group about the experience and everyone showed interest in volunteering again next year.
  • Operation: Salvation Army II
    • The ship was scheduled to volunteer at the Salvation Army once again on Saturday, December 15th. Jamie was contacted by the S.A. director who informed her that they had some changes in deliveries and that the event was being moved to another day. Unfortunately, we were not able to make the new date.

    • Jim will order prints for both the items
    • A date to be determined will be chosen to work on these projects.
For The Good Of The Ship:
  • Jim mentioned that the "pass the hat" idea for raising ship's funds is not working. Ben and Jamie both suggested that we try to use an internet service to get funds from those that don't carry cash. Jim mentioned that this would do nothing more than add a step to the process, and that it might also begin to cost money. Jamie said that she would try to remember to send out reminders.
  • Jamie said that she will be looking for service projects for this spring. Possibly in April.
  • The next ship's meeting has been scheduled to be held on January 6th at noon. this will also serve as a project day for costuming, and other activities.

AER: Heart of Honor Volunteers To Help With The Community Burned Bird Meat (Thanksgiving) Dinner

AER: Heart of Honor Volunteers To Help With The Community Burned Bird Meat (Thanksgiving) Dinner

Several crew of the IKV Heart of Honor had the day off on the day before the holiday known as Thanksgiving. So they and the ship’s cadet corps headed to the Old Town Hall to help the Kearney Area Concerned Citizens with their preparations for their free Thanksgiving feast for those that are less fortunate, or have no one to spend the holiday with.

Before we arrived, the cadets made Tootsie-Pop turkeys. This took place on the previous two Saturday’s before we arrived to help with the preparation of burnt bird-meat and the other items that will be served on Thanksgiving Day.

While there was no battle, or much physical activity, when we arrived home, everyone was exhausted, but a good time was had by everyone!

AER: One Day At Anime Nebraskon

AER: One Day At Anime Nebraskon

On November 3, 2018, Commander of the IKV Heart of Honor headed to Omaha from our home base in Kearney to assist the IKV Raptor's Heart with activities at the annual Anime Nebraskon convention. There was only one panel held by the ship that day, but it was a fun one. The rest of the time spent in Omaha in discussion with the Raptor's Heart Commander and First Officer on how the two ships will coordinate joint activities.

It was decided Lt. Ja'Jim will remain on the roster of the Raptor's Heart as Liason Officer to coordinate activities. It was further decided that expanses for booths at conventions for the two ships will be shared between the two ships. Also to be shared are materials for panels as well as any information and ideas that will benefit both ships and KAG in general.

We look forward to the future and our ongoing relationship with the Raptor's Heart.

After Event Report: IKV Heart Of Honor - Operation: Salvation Army Or "This Place Is Swarming With Klingons!

AER: IKV Heart of Honor Operation: Salvation Army

October 27th was a glorious day for the IKV Heart of Honor!

First, we welcome new crew member D’roq to the ranks. He will be a valuable member of our crew as we move forth into the many battles we will face.

After gathering at our headquarters, all members of the ship shuttled to the Salvation Army office. Not sure what we would face, we were tentative and alert to anything that may happen. Suddenly, all gre’thor broke loose as a group of Boy Scouts arrived with numerous bags of canned goods and other consumables and our mission was clear; we were to help with the organization of these items.

While the majority of the ship’s personnel worked on sorting and shelving the food intended for those less fortunate than ourselves, Cadets Hannah and Chrissy were taken to another part of the building to organize the office space, for which they did an excellent job.

As the morning proceeded and it looked as though we were going to be done with the job early, two more Scout troops arrived with more and more bags of consumables that were in need of attention. Everyone jumped in and the work was done in two and a half hours. All in all, we had sorted and shelved over 950 pounds of food items to help those in need.

After our service at the Salvation Army, we decided that it was a good day to dine so we shuttled to Freddy’s, a local burger restaurant, and had a hearty meal together as a crew. Later that evening, those that could gathered at our headquarters and had an evening of singing songs, telling stories, and playing board games.
