Tribbles And No Troubles At The 2019 Children's Mental Health Celebration

Tribble Toss at the Children's Mental Health Celebration

On May 16th, 2019, crew members of the IKV Heart of Honor invaded the Children's Mental Health Celebration at the Kearney National Guard Armory. Commander Ja'Jim and First Officer Arroh Mina, along with Cadets Hannah and Isaiah participated in a Tribble Toss game in which contestants had to toss a number of tribbles into a bucket to win prizes, namely, their very own baby tribble.

It was a great afternoon with family and friends. Dinner was served and there were numerous activities for the kids. We handed out a lot of tribbles because every contestant was a winner. As each kid threw a minimum of three tribbles in the bucket, they were taught to yell Qapla! for their success.

Oh, we know that tribbles aren't supposed to have eyes, but the kids sure thought they were cute.

qathlo' to Jamie, Benjamin and Jen for the hours of eye gluing!

One of Kearney's Finest vowed to carry his Tribble in his cruiser.

IKV Heart of Honor Makes A Donation For A Good Cause

Red and Wild Trek Themed Basket Helps To Raise Funds For A Good Cause!

On April 18th, 2019, members of the IKV Heart of Honor invaded the Red & Wild celebration in Lexington, Nebraska. You know the saying, "Beware Klingons Bearing Gifts?" Well, we didn't know that one either.

Red & Wild is an annual ladies night out event that is held in Lexington that culminates with a live auction for items donated by various businesses and organizations. The Heart of Honor donated a Star Trek themed basket that included burgers and shakes at a local restaurant, movie theater tickets, a bonus home movie night BluRay copy of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, and four boxes of Earther's favorite movie candies. The basket was valued at $85 and auctioned for $65.

All in all, the entire auction raised $7500, all of which will benefit a young man who is suffering from Coat's Disease, a degenerative eye disease that causes blindness.

In the photo above, ship's treasurer, Benjamin, presents the basket to Heather Heinemann, publisher of the Lexington Clipper-Herald and the organizer of the event.

A huge quatlho' goes out to ship's members Benjamin, Jamie, and Jen for putting this together with short notice!

AER: IKV Heart of Honor Invades Grand Comic Con: Volume 2

AER: IKV Heart of Honor Invades Grand Comic Con: Volume 2

It was a glorious weekend in Grand Island for our ship and crew. All members of he Heart of Honor were present for the first full day of Grand Comic Con: Vol. 2 working the fan table and the crowd. Commander Akela of the IKV Raptor's Heart joined us for the first day. On the second day, most of the ship's personnel were on hand.

Now in it's second year, the Grand Comic Con attracted some three-thousand people according to the con runner. There is a third year planned and already in the works. As it stands now, the con is mostly a large dealer's room with people selling comic books, works of art, original works of literature, and fan tables. We were hoping to present our Klingon Jeopardy panel, but the venue was not set up for that. I have been assured that, as the event grows, there will be more opportunities for panels and presentations.

This was our first convention as a ship and everyone had a great time visiting with new friends and getting reacquainted with old friends we don't get to see very often. We handed out hundreds of business cards and brochures as well as treats for the younger con-goers.

Our efforts did yield one new crew member for the ship. We welcome Rob Paup of Grand Island on board as the newest member of our growing ship. Rob's motto on Facebook is "Human by birth, Klingon by choice." I couldn't have said it better myself.

Commander Akela helps with morning set-up.

Hey, how did that tribble get there?

There were quite a few Trek fans on hand.

Apparently we need to discuss con-etiquette with Doyle and Erik at a future meeting.
